Alternator Test Rig
The Alternator Performance Test Rig is PC enabled where different parameters are selected by the click of the keyboard / mouse and the results are displayed on the screen.
Following tests are conducted :
- Rotor Energizaion
- WL ON test
- Cut in speed test
- Output @ speed 1 (1500Rpm)
- Output @ speed 2 ( 3000rpm)
- Output @ speed3 (6000 Rpm)
- Regulating Voltage (5000Rpm)
- ERPM & Blocking diode
- Zero output test
- WL End
Diode Test - The diode are tested inside the alternator by applying a constant current source across the terminals and measuring the drop across the diode.
Regulation test - The alternator is made to run at a speed of 6000 rpm using a motor, the output from the alternator is loaded for 30% of the rated capacity measuring output voltage which is compared to the set limits and accordingly the results are declared.
Load test- It is similar to the regulation test except the load of the alternator will be 80% of the rated load. The voltage, current and the speed of the alternator are measured and compared to the set limits and accordingly the results are declared.
